  1. Hi Joanne, i just stumbled through Vancouver’s hashtag to find places to explore and randomly found your instagram. Your photos were amazing! I’m actually planning a backpacking trip to Vancouver next month and was wondering if you have any suggestions on places to try, things to see and stuff to do. I know i want to white water raft, hike and just enjoy Vancouver’s nature. I know that this is totally out if the blue but I’ve never been to Vancouver and since this is my first time backpacking I thought why not ask. 😊 thank you so much for taking the time to read. I hope to hear back from you!

    1. Hi Kimberly,

Thank you for your lovely comments. It’s great to hear that you’ll be visiting Vancouver especially in the summer! Although I haven’t done too many hikes (especially the more difficult ones) around Vancouver, here are some suggestions. For White water rafting I’d suggest the Chilliwack over Whistler. In terms of hiking, there are many trails with varying lengths and intensity that you can do. Have a look at http://www.vancouvertrails.com/. Joffre Lakes and Garabaldi Lake are gorgeous and are doable in a day. People have also loved Wedgemont Lake and Black Tusk. Although Black Tusk might be better if you camp overnight. For easy scenery ones, Whyte Lake Trail, Whytecliff Park, Lighthouse Park are also fun. It’s also perfect for kayaking during the summer. For that, I’d suggest Deep Cove in North Vancouver or English Bay. How much time do you have? If possible, Vancouver Island is amazing. People have loved Juan De Fuca trail. Della Falls was amazing. You’d need to contact Ben to hire a speed boat from Port Alberni to get to the trail entrance. Will you have access to a car? It tends to be easier if you have one, Hope this gives you some insight, but feel free to contact me with more questions! Hope you enjoy Vancouver. 🙂
